The London Residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, who is the nominal head of the Anglican Communion. In some ways, this site could be thought of as the Anglican equivalent of the Vatican. The palace is now also home to the Lambeth Palace Library, the official library of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

  • Racism had nothing to do with it: The coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey was for the King-Emperor as the British Monarchs were styled at the time. There was no point in repeating what is actually a religious ceremony of the Church of England that had already been completed except for pure spectacle. And it was thought that that would cheapen it.
