History:
In the early days, white birds “cannaoay” was a familiar sight when the place was mostly ricefields with rolling hills on the eastern side and along the seashore on the southern and western parts. The birds would be seen on the ricefields or on the backs of carabaos, usually during and after harvest time. Their beauty and grace gave the people and atmosphere of peace and serenity. Hence, when a name was considered, “Canaoay” was chosen.
