Owned by Orange County's Irvine Company, it was constructed as the corporate headquarters of 20th Century Fox. It housed post presidential offices of Ronald Reagan. The newly completed, empty tower was used as the fictional Nakatomi Plaza in Fox's film Die Hard, in which Bruce Willis as John McClane came to visit his ex-wife and ended up trying to outsmart terrorists who took over the building.
