Built by the Southern Minnesota Railroad Company in the 1860s as the northern terminus of the railroad's route from St. Paul to Sioux City, IA via Mankato, this yard became part of the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway (the Omaha Road) in 1880, then the Chicago and Northwestern in the early 1970s, and finally the Union Pacific in 1995.
