Dar Qita was founded in roman times (1st century AC) and reached its peak as a regional economic centre based on the regional products, e.g. wine and oliveoil in the Byzantine aera 5th and 6th century, when its three important basilicas were built: St Peter and Paul 414 AC, St Sergios 537 AC and Holy Trinity 567 AC. You also can find two baptistries (one for the local christian community, the other for pilgrims), some hostels and olive presses. To be reached only by 4X4, but worth a try.
