  yes it is a artificial lake . It is made by accumulating sewage water which is flowing form east side industries.As and when the lake level raises the treshhold level the excess water is allowed to flow the nullah along the compound wall in thane-belapur road which ultimately reaches sea.via the nallah. Please trace the flow of water from east to west in map. u will get an idea.
