"The Greens" section of the 4,000-acre "Willowsford, Virginia" master planned community. The largest section in Willowsford, The Greens is also home to The Lodge at Willow Lake, an outdoor sporting and recreational facility. Pool facilities and the boat house are also located here.

The Greens village also contains six larger conservancy home sites. Four of these are residential parcels, with sizes between 5 and 8.5 acres. These are designated for one-off custom homes, and as of 2021 three are built, with the fourth on the way. Stanley Martin Homes constructed two of the existing homes, while Kingston Royce Homes built the third. The final two conservancy lots total about 41 acres and are currently in use growing grapes for the Centreville-based Winery at Bull Run.

Willowsford consists of 4 distinct sections, or "villages". Each section includes its own array of trails, leisure facilities and other features. The community stresses environmental consciousness and is sensitive to the importance of natural, open space. To that end, more than half of Willowsford's acreage is dedicated farmland and open space. The farms produce fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs, in addition to maintaining herds of livestock. A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is also in operation to provide local residents with fresh, locally sourced meat and produce.

The residential dwellings of Willowsford consist solely of single family homes on lots up to 2 acres in size. Builders include:
- Van Metre Homes
- Arcadia Communities (which was bought out by Van Metre in 2016)
