The name means "little alley". This is the entrance most people will be familiar with, although there are many others. The alley has a great many small shops, an open-air market, and several restaurants. Don't miss "Pizzeria Rustica", at the entrance. Just watching them cut the pizzas is worth the visit. The fact that the pizza is delicious is a a bonus. Follow the alley to its end, and you'll pass several beautiful churches, along with some very interesting architecture- almost all of it older than the United States. The land rises sharply to the west, and every square inch of it has buildings on it (and under it in some places).
