USA / Hawaii / Honolulu / Honolulu, Hawaii
military, United States Coast Guard, cutter (ship)

Laid down at the Avondale Shipyard in September 1970 as the eleventh member of the Hamilton Class of High Endurance Cutters for the US Coast Guard, USCGC Jarvis commissioned into service in August 1972 at her new homeport of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Remaining stationed at Honolulu for her entire USCG career, the Jarvis and her crews made numerous deployments throughout her Pacific area of responsibility and as far afield as the Persian Gulf enforcing maritime laws, providing security, enforcing fisheries and conducting search and rescue missions. Given a comprehensive overhaul from 1990 through 1992 as part of the FRAM program, Jarvis continued to serve out of Honolulu as a member of the US Coast Guard's 14th District until her completing her final patrol in September 2012.

Withdrawn from active service and listed as being slated for transfer to the navy of a friendly nation, the former Jarvis was selected for donation to the Bangladesh Navy to serve as Fleet Flagship in May of 2013. The ship served as an active training platform for her future crews on a rotational basis before her formal transfer took place on May 23rd, 2013 and she entered service as the BNS Somudra Joy.
