ministry / government department, Gothic (architecture), 1910_construction
Now part of the Israeli Ministry of Education and Culture. The hospital was constructed by the Italian Barluzzi brothers between 1912 and 1919; it is said to resemble Florence's Palazzo Vecchio or the town hall in Siena. During WW2 the British expropriated the hospital as an enemy property. In 1948 IDF forces took control of the site, whose tower made an ideal observation post. The State of Israel purchased the property in 1963.
