Josef Drexler has had a brewery here since the second half of the 19th century.
In 1922, both the building and the restaurant came into the possession of A. Gundisch, who changed the name to "La Bufnița", under which it is still known today. It is the oldest restaurant in Sibiu, which operates without interruption in the same location and the second oldest, which operates under the same name (the restaurant closed in 2021).
Before the First World War, the Social Democratic Party, founded in 1904, functioned in this building.
