Vayillyamkunnu Bhagavathy Temple is centuries old and considered as one of the major temples in Valluvanad region (A grade temple under Malabar devaswom).

The place "Vayillyamkunnu" has historical importance since ancient days as it is believed as the abode of "Vayillakunnilappan" - the twelfth member of "Parayi petta panthirukulam" who born with divine powers. With the time,the place grew as "Vayillyamkunnu nagaram" and later to today's Kadampazhipuram. Vayillakunnilappan temple, in the form of Lord Siva is in the down hills and "Vayillyakunnathamma" temple on the up hills. Legend of this Bhagavathy temple is connected with "Guptans" of surrounding area.

The major annual festival - pooram - falling in feb/mar is famous for the display of main elephants in the state and unique symphony of reputed "panchavadyam" percussion artists in different "Vela"s.
