It is a system of big sand dunes along the Pacific Ocean, located north of Mariscadero in the comuna of Pelluhue, Chile, and south of river Rahue, which separates the comunas of Chanco and Pelluhue. The system has a roughly rectangular shape. The dunes are gradually migrating eastward. The pine forests that historically have prevented this migration are being felled by business interests and are not being replaced, which puts at risk the ecology of the place.
