  • Temple dedicated to lord shiva.this shrine is mentioned in valmiki ramayana,adds to temple's glory.equivalent to kasi.Agora moorthy ,a form of shiva is present & it is no where in the world, apart from here.Shrine for Lord Budhan,vidyakaran,is located in front of goddess Brahma vidhyambigai.She teached Lord Brahma.Lord Swetharanyesswarar was worshipped by white elephant,Brahma,Budhan,Indran & many more.He protected swethan ,a boy of a sage from death.Lord here is very generous in blessing his true devotees by granting good knowledge,life span,vimochana from all our sins.This temple was sung by saiva nalvar & pattinathar.Lord here was responsible for the birth of Meykanda nayanar,who later wrote the great Siva gnana botham.
