return (military), United States Air Force

During the Yugoslav wars (late 1990s), hotel 'Le Ginestre' was rented by USAF and RNLAF as lodging for their personnel operating at the radar site Mt Iaccotenente. As such the hotel (which had not yet officially opened after having been constructed in 1994) served as a strictly civilian operated living quarters. RNLAF and CAF personnel moved out to private homes just outside nearby Vieste in the summer of 1995, leaving the hotel to USAF. 'Le Ginestre' remained an unofficial USAF domestic site until their final withdrawal in 1999
