Markham Nature Park and Arboretum is a 16-acre island of natural beauty near the heart of downtown Concord. People who visit for the first time are surprised that such a lovely, natural park exists inside the city limits. Markham is Concord’s secret garden . . . still waiting to be discovered by many residents of the area.
The park is being developed by the City of Concord in partnership with a citizen-run, non-profit organization 501-c3 corporation called Markham Regional Arboretum Society. Governed by a Board of Directors and supported by community volunteers, the Society raises money, creates plans, and oversees the development and maintenance of the park.
Along with donations and grants, funds to develop the park come from Markham Nursery plant sales. Volunteers grow plants from seeds and cuttings. These are offered to the public for sale on select Saturdays throughout the year.

History
The Markham Regional Arboretum Society began in 1981 with a small group of Concord citizens who loved gardens. Their goal was to turn sixteen acres of land, a portion of which had been sold to the City of Concord by Ira and Bee Markham in 1966, into a beautiful arboretum.
