  I want to share some more facts about Jessore. In 16th Century the King Maan Singh of Amer(Now Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, Western India) was leading Moughal Emperor Akbar's Army in Jessore. He found an Idol of Godess Kaali there( according to the writings on a stone in Amer Palace, Godess Kaali appeared in his dreams & ordered him to take that idol to his kingdom). He brought the idol, got a temple constructed in his palace in Amer fort and placed the Idol, which became the Godess Silla Devi(Shila or rock). Silla Devi was given status of Royal Deity in Kingdom of Amer. Today every year people of Jaipur go to her temple on occaision of Sashthi of both navratras ie. two days before Durga Ashtami of Sharad(Durga puja) and of Chaitra month. The District administration declares public holiday on both days of the year. The second thing is about Prof. Neel Ratna Dhar of Allahabad University, he was an eminent scholar, who was from Jessore. He was founder of National Academy of Sciences, a very old society of Scientists founded before partition of India. He got set up the Sheela Dhar Institute of Soil Sciences in Allahabad by his own resources later he donated it to Allahabad University. Sheela was his wife who was also a scholar. He remained issue less. He died in 80's at the age of 90, till his death he was contributing for Agricultural research.
