24 acres of woodland including large oaks and beeches. Originally much larger but split in two when the Southampton & Dorchester railway was built subsequent to which the other part was converted to a golf course. 'Delph' is derived from an Old English word 'delf' meaning quarrying. It is possible that the ponds within the woods are pits left by quarrying activity.
