park, invisible
At 175 acres and with over 7 miles of trails, Langdale park is one of the largest recreation areas in Lowndes County. The Withlacoochee River runs a swampy black water course with cypress, live oak, spanish moss, wild azaleas, palm and other diverse regional flora and wildlife. Anglers and hikers frequent the main park entrance, however the park is not often visited by locals, considering sordid controversies regarding its misuse, this works to preserve the natural conditions. Waste has been considered a problem in the past decade, the organizations Rivers Alive and the Sierra Club have organized cleanups. The yearly events do little to circumvent the waste problem that continues to be an eyesore for paddlers and hikers visiting the exotic southern park.
