This streamlined modern building opened as The Broadway in 1947 and was an original anchor of the shopping center back when it was Broadway-Crenshaw Center. In 1996 it was rebranded as a Macy's, but closed in 1999. Macy's would return to the mall seven years later when the adjacent Robinsons-May was rebranded. The world's first three-level Wal-Mart opened here in 2003 with a unique logo, later gaining the common "Walmart" branding as it added more food options inside the store. In January 2016 it closed, with shoplifting cited as a reason.
