The Mountaineer wind farm is located in (mostly) Tucker County in West Virginia, strung for about 6 miles along Backbone Mountain ridge (and partially along US 219) about 6-12 miles south of US Route 50 where it crosses into Maryland (west crossing). Commissioned in 2002, it consists of 44 NEG/Micon NM82/1500 wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 66 MW.
