Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences

One name. Three buildings. The original building - the Todd Centre - dates back to 1976; and it was joined by the Robertson Trust Wing in 1998. Annoyingly; this screened the view of the Callanish sculpture from Cathedral Street which spoils its impact. The RTW was renamed the John Arbuthnott Building as soon as the man himself retired as Principal in 2001, in honour of his own research achievements as a biochemist and also because the building happened under his watch. The third building, which swallowed up the old Todd Centre, was completed in 2011.

It is all part of one big strategy to move all of the pharmaceutical-related departments out of their scattered (and dingy) collection of offices and labs in the Royal College into one, purpose-built site.
