  Once a small slum settlement, it is today a sprawling and congested slum generating heaps of garbage which can be seen decorating the hillsides, and the trees lining the main ghat road and also dumped beside the hill railway line below the road, making it a sort of a "unpleasant welcome" to the hordes of visitors to the Nilgiri Hills! More such unauthorised slums are springing up in the ravines beside the rivulets thanks to inaction by the Municipality officials..
