Official Designation of Shahanoor Dam Irrigation Project is " Shahanoor Dam , D - 02907 " . However local and popular name is " Shahanoor Lake / Shahanoor Talav ". Shahanoorr Dam was constructed as parts of Irrigation Projects by the Government of Maharashtra in the year 1990. It is built on and impounds Shahanoor River . Nearest city to dam is Anjangaon Surji in Amravati District of Maharashtra . The dam is an Earth fill Dam . The purpose of the dam is Irrigation,Drinking / Water Supply,Hydroelectric . The Length of dam is 828 m ( 2716.54 Feet ) , while the Height of the dam above lowest foundation is 57.81 m ( 189.6653 Feet ) . The Project has Ogee type of Spillway . Length of the spillway is 63 m ( 206.693 Feet ) . The spillway has Radial type of spillway gates . The Dam's catchment area is 13.919 Thousand Hectors . Maximum / Gross storage capacity is 47.85 MCM. Live storage capacity is 46.04 MCM. Now a days almost all the water bodies make for good picnic spots . Shahanoor Lake is also a popular picnic spot for its scenic beauty .

  • Built in 1991 and has storage capacity 45 MCUM. Out of which 12.30 MCUM has been reserved for Largest Regional Rural Drinking Water supply Scheme in INDIA, named as 156 village and two towns Daryapur and Anjangaon. It is 100% GRAVITY Scheme having an influnce area as 3250 sq.km. It has found place in LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS in 2005.
  • It is very Beautifull Place Located in Satpuda parvat. Old People says here pandavas came while they were in agyatwas. This is origen of rivers Shahanur , Bhuleshwari.In ancient time Shahanur village was a capital of gonds( this is cast i.e Jamat , Korkus). Now only wall made up of Mud Present in shahanu village and skeleton of there capital is there. From this location we can see the hill station Chikhaldar. Towards South around 7th Km small village is there having Population 8000 name Pandhari Khanumpur.
