Funded by the third installment of the one cent Metropolitan Area Projects sales tax, the MAPS 3 Downtown Park will be 70 acres in total when completed. The park is effectively split geographically into two parks by the new Interstate-40, with the upper park known as Central Park (not to be confused with the Oklahoma City neighborhood of the sames name) and the lower park known as Promenade Park linked by the SkyDance Pedestrian Bridge which was built as part of the new Interstate-40.
Currently, land aquisition for the upper park is nearing completion, with Phase I construction set to begin summer of 2013.
