Aizenkatsura tree (Ueda)

It is said that Buddhist deity Awalokiteshwara (Buddha's embodied compassion) once took the form of this 1200-year old tree. The name comes from Aizen Myo'odo which lies in the eastern part of the precincts. Young people consider that the tree has special powers to connect people together/
