Rohtang Tunnel on Manali-Leh National Highway
Rohtang Tunnel being constructed on Manali-Leh National Highway will be 8.8 km long, 10 metre wide with 8 metre wide paved road at 3,100 metre elevation. It will bypass Rohtang Pass and will be open throughout the year and reduce the between Manali and Keylong by about 60 km.
The southern end of the tunnel at coordinates 32°21'51 N 77°07'59 E is reached by turning left at Palchan, 11 km north of Manali on the way to Rohtang pass or about 40 km before Rohtang pass. After crossing Solang village, Dhundi is reached. The south end of the tunnel is just north of Dhundi across the Beas river.

A 2.25 m high and 3.6 m wide emergency tunnel will be integrated in the tunnel cross-section beneath the main carriageway for evacuation during emergencies. Initially expected to open in 2015, the date of completion has now been put back by two years to 2017
