One of the more interesting and original farms of the area, Chez Dallaud is home to Jean-Paul Aubineau, who is an organic vintner and whom assembles award-winning pineaus. His 10 hectares are directly above the largest water source in the area - producing up to 150 litres per minute. The Keggler family have owned the land, on which the head of this source lies, since the year 2000. It was on this farm where original documents from the early 19th Century were found that contained
important information concerning the phylloxera vastatrix parasite that devastated the Cognac region in 1872, dropping the productive vineyard area from 283,000 hectares to a meagre 41,000 and costing France over 12 billion francs to recover. The phylloxera insect was brought over from America and even had its term destroying the California vineyards in the 1870s and 1880s.
