In 1976, His Holiness the Sankaracharya of Kanchi revealed a vision of an institution of excellence with a missionary spirit.

That vision was shared by Dr.S.S. Badrinath and his colleagues. From it emerged Sankara Nethralaya - the Temple of the Eye. On the auspicious day of Vinayaka Chathurthi, on 6th September 1978 Sankara Nethralaya began its relentless journey in providing world-class eye care at affordable cost.   • Sir, With due repect I want to state that I, Neha shaw,20, student of 3rd year physiology hons., resident of Kolkata,khanna had a blunt injury(trauma) in the left eye a year ago in about month of janauary 2009 by the hand of a friend.When this occured I was in lift and then I had to return home so I was in hurry and I even did not wash my eyes with water. When I returned home I forgot about this incidence. After 2-3 days I saw in mirror with torch that my left eye's pupil has dilated to a greater extent. The day after I went to the DISHSA HOSPITAL at Barrackpur,kolkata. There the doctor tested my eyes and said that it cant not be cured i.e,the pupil size may not be returned to the normal shape.They gave me an eyedrop named FLUR to continue for 1 month.They tested me for glaucoma ,it was normal, OE, it was also normal .I did as the doctor said .I consulted with another doctor of leprosy mission, kolkata , they also told the same thing. According to the doctors I will not hqave any problem in vision , but on exposure to sunlight, there may be a itte flare.They told me to have an annual checkup for this. But, I am stil afraid of my eyes.I heard a goodwill of your eye care hospital.It is one of the best eyecare unit in the world.So I kindly request you to look into this seriuos matter.If you think that my problem has any solution in your careunit, I would highly be appreciated,if you kindly suggest me on this.   • I stay in Kota(Raj.)i want an appointment as early as possible say Monday (18th or 19th June)cause my mom has been diagnosed CHRONIC ENDOPHTHLMITIS & secondary GLAUCOMA. it all started after she was operated for a simple operation of CATARACT on 5th Jan.12,we are told by a sr.Ophthalmologist from Hyderabad that Shankra is the only hope left & we must not waste time.Please advise us the consern Doctor also.
