Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy who has revolted against the British in July 1846 has built this fort. He fought successfully against British army at Giddaluru on 23 July 1846. In Oct 1846 he has been surrounded in the night secretly at a temple and later on 22 Feb 1847 he was hanged publicly. To frighten the revolting Indians against British Raj, his head has been hanged to the Koilakuntla buruju for thirty years upto 1877.
