This 87-acre preserve on Cold Spring Creek is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the West Point Foundry (maker of the Parrott Gun, a cannon that figured prominently in the Union's Civil War victory.)
The Village of Cold Spring, the Putnam County Historical Society and Foundry School Museum and the National Audubon Society are working to interpret the site's rich history.
The adjacent Foundry Cove, once a superfund cleanup site, now boasts tidal wetlands that provide habitat for Hudson River bird species. This park is currently open and improvements are continuing.
