This is perhaps the most beautiful park in central Oslo. This is the place to watch the sunset or sunrise as you can clearly see above most houses and out over the Oslo fjord. However in the summer months, bring a gas mask as everyone likes to bring out their BBQ grills in the later afternoons. Grills should relly be banned in this period. There is also an outside scene that is heavily used during summer, with everything from children theather to rock performances. As for the history of the place don't ask me, because I'm Swedish...
