Thompson Hall was named for Lorin A. Thompson, the first president of George Mason University. During his tenure, the university underwent a large expansion, ground was broken for 10 new buildings and enrollment increased from 840 to more than 4,200 students.
Thompson Hall holds classrooms and offices of the Communication Department and the Modern and Classical Languages Department. The Debate and Forensics Teams have space here as well. The Information Technology Unit's Technology Systems Division is also in Thompson Hall.
