1) Telugu Baptist Church( in the morning, after Oriya Sunday School )
2) Oriya Baptist Church ( in the afternoon )
3) English Baptist Church,CNI ( in the evening )

Timings vary for the summer and winter seasons.

Oriya Sunday School is held in the morning in the church premises. English Sunday School is held in the morning in Stewart School premises.

Oriya Baptist Church is the largest church in Orissa. The first Christian of Orissa (I will verify the church affiliation and place but the name is correct) - Gangadhar Sadangi belonged to this church(*will check). The first home missionary of Orissa - Rev. Shem Sahu also belonged to this church. My source : Stone tablets on the walls inside the church.

If you truly belong to Christ, the fruit of the Spirit would be seen in your life. Jesus died for the sins of the entire world and rose again. Does that automatically save people from their sins ? No! This is only applicable for those who received Him as the Lord and Saviour of their life. You need to understand what sin is and its gravity - enmity with God, disobedience of God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Sin results in spiritual death. So, thats why Christ came to offer abundant life(John 10:10). God's gift is eternal life to those who have been set free from sin(read Romans 6).   • In the year 2006 the General Election was held for Cuttack Oriya Baptist Church. The following were elected uncontested, Mr. Sushil Kumar Sahu as President, Mr. Lal Mohan Roul as Vice President, Mr. Prem Sundar Rout as General Secretary, Mr. Pradip Sahu as Joint Secretary, Mr. Rajendra Sahu as Treasurer, Mr. Paritosh Das as Assistant Secretary. Unfortunately, seeing the clean sweep, one Mr. Salomon Sahu of Cuttack Chandi Christian Village was utilized to file a case creating hindrances on taking over the charge by the newly elected Office Bearers. The key persons in playing such foul play were Dr. Prabhat Ch. Rout, Mr. Samuel Patro and Mr. Bijaya Muni supported by Mr. Sailendra Patra , the previous Office Bearers. The Pastors of the Church though conducted the election , played questionable roles to create disharmony. Out of the elected all Office Bearers, Mr. Paritosh Das was targeted to be killed since his presence was intolerable by many since he was known to be very outspoken and played a vital role in advancing Baptist Movements along with Mr. Pani, Mr. Nirod Mohanty and Advocate Prasanta Pradhan. The winners just kept their patience high and fought the court case. Several attempts were made inside the Church to harass the newly elected Office Bearers. Mr. Samuel Patro who declared that he had resigned from his post ( though his tenure was over) played nasty politics to handover the Church to the Church of North India acting as its agent. In a process, Mr. Nirod Mohanty suffered a lot. Mr. Paritosh Das, who was the most brilliant player in organizing Baptists and in revealing the misdeeds of the Ex Officers lost his job from the highest post of a renowned hospital as letters were issued to his work place through YMCA, Cuttack President Dr. S.Y. Lew ( CNI Member ) and his associate Mr. Satyajit Sahu. However, with lot of struggles finally the Courts at Cuttack recognized the status of the newly elected Officers and recognisation was given to Mr. Sushil Kumar Sahu as the true leader to represent Cuttack Oriya Baptist Church as President. The case was seriously followed up by Advocate Prasanta Pradhan, Advocate N.C. Parija assisted by Mr. Paritosh Das, Mr. Nirod Mohanty. Later, Mr. Purna Ch. Khuntia played a serious role in assisting the advocates to fight for the cause. The Chief Pastor Rev. Dr. Prabhat Ch. Bag, who is a CNI Church member played a very suspicious role rather than restoring the order of worship in the affairs. No Pastors could remain impartial but allured by different means took side of the Ex Officers. They even stopped House visits. In the process, a great live Church lost its dynamics. Many of the activities were stopped. Instead of a religious epicenter of the state ( since COBC is the mother Church of Odisha) it became a place of politics, bureaucratic operation having nasty intentions, fight and lot of Church funds were siphoned for selfish reasons without any audit being conducted for years together. Mr. Paritosh Das with the help of Christian Endeavour (C.E.) staged a play which directly accused the Ex Officers and pointed out the ongoing affairs through his play. Mr. Dinesh Rout, the Director of the play was severely criticized for directing such a sarcastic play. However, this play turned the picture. It had great impact on the society and at each and every corner of the state, Christians were found to be talking on the play, appreciating the theme and commenting negatively on the activities of the Ex Officers of the Church. It has ignited the society. We are just hoping to see this ignition to turn into fire to bring the real change that is awaited.

Finally, the Court gave order to hold election though Mr. Samuel Patro and his associate Mr. Sailendra Patra tried their level best to create problem. Samuel Patro is a real HYPOCRATE. We are happy that on 20th July 2012 under the supervision of the Deputy Collector, election for the tenure 2012 to 2015 took place. The satanic forces of Samuel Patro and Anupam Patro, Mutu Roul , Sri Bijaya Muni, Asish Pradhan lost like anything. Let there be PEACE in the mother Church.

  • Dear friends, It is really time to rejoice since Our Lord, the Almighty worked wondrously. The court case went in favour of the elected body (2006) of the Oriya Baptist Church. However some people like Mr. Mohan Mishra, Mr. Bijaya Mini, Mr, Shailendra Patra and the great hypocrite Mr. Samuel Patro again made their sincere efforts to stall the election procedure scheduled for the period 2012-2015. We have all witnessed the role of Rev. P.C. Bag, our Chief Pastor on this matter. Is it just and proper on the part of a religious head of the biggest Church to take sides and campaign for the candidates? But with what sorry figure he came out !!! Mr. Sushil Sahu who was described as a thief in the court by Late PC Rout and group became President. Rightly all other candidates made a clean sweep in the election proving that, BAPTISTS are alive and have brains. But, sad that what government Officers did being Non-Christians, we Christians did not do that proving that we surrender to Satan rather than to Jesus Christ. Anyway, amongst the new Office Bearers, Mr. Dhiraj Chowdhury has come in as Treasurer since Mr. Rajendra Sahu could not come due to his poor health. Let us be watchful since Mr. Chowdhury claims that he worked in government for 37 years and has already started trying his formulations to be inducted in designing the COBC working styles. Mr. Premjit Sabath, who does not carry a clean image but proclaims self righteousness to the maximum level ( Second in position since Mr. Gideon Moharana stands in 1st Position as the Self Righteous man in Baptist community of Odisha) has come into the picture since Mr. Paritosh Das who was elected uncontested in the last election was not available. Mr. Sabath has a record of creating disharmony and unnecessary quarrel amongst people. I wish that, he does not repeat his histories in Baptist Church. We expect Mr. Lalmohan Roul and Mr. Prem Sundar Rout to play pivotal role using good wisdom. We also request Mr. Dhiraj Chowdhury to use his longstanding experience and good caliber to find out the details of the siphoned funds of the Church. Our expectation from Mr. Pradeep Sahu , Joint Secretary is to provide whole hearted support to Mr. Prem Sundar Rout. Our expectation from Mr. Sahw is to really work hard and work like a watchdog. Our expectation from Mr. Premjit Sabath that he would help the seniors leaving his ego . But at this juncture, I really question the absence of Mr. Swarupananda Patro, Mr. Asish Das, Mr. Paritosh Das, Mr. Manas Ranjan Sahu , Mr. Subodh Moharana , Mr. Sujit Sahu and Advocate Prasanta Pradhan. Where are they ? Why they have become so silent ?? What next, I know and we all know, Mr. Sushil Sahu and his group will face lot of challenges. In general Baptists will face lot of challenges to bring the original order of the Church. It will take time. At this juncture, the Church seriously requires a good devoted impartial religious leader – Pastor. Pray God to provide. But at this juncture, I really question the absence of Mr. Swarupananda Patro, Mr. Asish Das, Mr. Paritosh Das, Mr. Manas Ranjan Sahu , Mr. Subodh Moharana , Mr. Sujit Sahu and Advocate Prasanta Pradhan. Where are they ? Why they have become so silent ??

Don't blame and judge servants of God. You only will be punished by Him who knows you personally by your name.   • Dear Mr. Rajesh, I do not know who Trumpter is. I do not know you as well. But I am well informed about activities at Oriya Baptist Church. What Mr. Trumpter has written are all correct. And why you are telling to shut a dirty mouth ? What is dirty ? telling truth ? Its time to tell the truth. Do not be a CNI flatterer. See one by one how all the Church properties they have sold. Not joining ot not spelling out the truth is nuisance and sin too since you are not with the truth.
  • Hi everyone. I'm a youth member of COBC. I just typed COBC in google and i got a link to this page. I was astounded when i read all the comments. I do not know all the names mentioned above except the Pastors. But its such a shame to see how all of you disrespect God's people. My parents always taught me to honor God's people no matter what. I work in a metro city right now. And all of you should definitely see how much respect people give to the leaders of the church as they are the chosen ones from God. I don't exactly know about the politics going on in our church but i think God's wrath will fall on everyone who has disobeyed Him. I hope you remember David and King Saul's story. Despite of the king being wrong, David didn't raise his hands on him because he was also chosen by the Almighty. I'm not trying to imply that the pastors or the leaders are right or wrong. I just think we shouldn't raise ourselves against God's people because that would mean that we are raising ourselves against God. Instead of bickering here about the politics in the church, teach your children about The Lord so that when they grow up, they become good leaders of the church. When anyone asks me about my church, with pride I would say that I belong to one of the oldest and the biggest church of Orissa. But this is what outsiders see when they search for our church in google i.e. your dirty comments about church and its leaders as if the commentors are the most holiest people in the world. I feel sad to see the condition of our Church. If all the elders including you keep fighting, how do you expect youth like us to respect you? And don't think that by commenting the truth about the church online, you are doing a great job. You are just dirtying the name of God's Temple. So please, i request you to first analyse your life and correct it. God has the only right to judge us, not humans.
  • Its absolutely true ... Bro. Youth.. we should never question or raise voice against GODs chosen ones. Because HE will surely bring to light the deeds done by everyone in this world. The result will define when the deeds are tested by FIRE. If the deed are of woods. straw, etc they wont strive. GOD is the only judge. We are no one to Judge.   • Baptist Missionary Society of England illegally Sale Baptist Church property to Non-Christian Land Mafias. Sub: Unfortunate sale of Baptist Church and area to a Non Christian Land Mafia at Sambalpur of Orissa, India by the Baptist Missionary Society of England. Dear Sir/Madam, with profound grief in heart I wish to share a few facts with you for your information & kind prayer. History says in the Orissa province of India, Sambalpur district was a lower caste tribal area where mainly Munda tribals were living. The British missionaries came to this area for propagation and preaching of real Christian truth and message of salvation as a result of which many Munda believers received Jesus Christ as their Savior and got new light of life. We got Bible through them and got worldly as well as spiritual education by their noble effort so we are greatly indebted to them. The Baptist Missionary Society who worked in this dark area did yeomen service for the Church and Christian Society. In their memory we wish to build a theology college and a hospital in this area. A beautiful Church is already being constructed in the mission compound area which was established in the year 1881 by the Baptist missionary society of England. But recently the present India Manager of B.M.S Mr.Franklin John Qureshi has illegally sold this mission area to a non Christian big land mafia businessman for his own selfish interest. The question arise that did BMS became so poor that it tried to sell the religious property to a non Christian at a throw away price, where a church is standing and missionary activities are going on. When we have tried our best to keep the last commandment of Jesus and as a result of which 19 numbers of Munda Baptist Churches have grown up in Sambalpur district and this mission compound area has acted as a head quarter for the Church activities, the present B.M.S India Manager acted as a traitor to sell the property of the Christian Community which needs immediate prevention and condemnation. Many international preachers like Dr. Larry Walker and Dr. David Airland from USA have spoken from this mission Compound preaching platform. Though we are poor, we are happy in Christ and the same happiness should not be taken away from us. We very much request our brothers of England and whole world to pray for us, our lives are very much attached to our church and for that we may have to sacrifice our lives also. May Lord Jesus help us and save this Church and the mission compound landed property. Kindly pray for us and pass on this message to other Christian brothers.
