former site of the Regal Constellation Hotel which originated with the construction in 1962 of a five storey 150 room hotel with banquet facilities for up to 600 people designed by the architect firm of Brigman and Hamann. In 1966 a fifteen storey, 150 room tower was added, followed by four further additions in subsequent years raising the total number of rooms to 900. Convention and recreation facilities were also added and expanded.
By 2003 the hotel was suffering from declining popularity arising from increased competition from the proliferation of newer hotels in the area and an aging structure containing asbestos. Entering receivership in 2003, the complex remained vacant for eight years and was demolished in 2011.
