Ekalabara

The area which falls in the Luna Taluka of Vadodara boasts of a large number of Industrial units.... most of them are manufacturers of chemicals. A fallout of this is that there is large scale sub soil dumpling of industrial waste resulting in pollution.More than 55 wells of Luna, Sherkhi, Bhimpura, Umariya, small Ekalbara, Ekalbara, and Bhavpura of Padra Taluka, Vadodara are affected by the industrial waste. Whenever the well are started red colored water comes out from them and at the very sight of the underground water one can imagine how much he water is contaminated. A Supreme Court committee visited the area on 5th April 2004 and took a serious note about the contaminated water. On the other hand the report has also revealed shocking facts.
People of Luna and other affected villages do not have any other option than using this contaminated water for drinking and other purpose.
