The Drop Redoubt is part of the fortifications on Dover's Western Heights whose construction began during the Napoleonic era.

The redoubt (='detached fort'), a polygon with caponniers on 4 of the 5 'corners', is connected to the main Citadel fort by a system of dry moats or 'lines'.

The name 'Drop' refers to the remains of Dover's second roman lighthouse (or pharos) which are located on the redoubt. These are known locally as the 'Devil's Drop of Mortar' or Bredenstone.

Dover's first Pharos is still standing next to St. Mary's church in the Castle grounds on the other side of the valley.
