Makes custom forgings primarily for the aerospace industry and involving aluminum, magnesium and titanium. Site of the 50,000 ton Loewy Hydropress press forging machine, which at time of construction was the largest machine in the world extending some 10 stories below ground to bedrock. Also location of a similar 35,000 ton press.
Both presses were built by the government as part of the Heavy Press Programme in the early 1950's to replicate German advanced during world war II.
