I achieved my degree in costume design at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 1992 before working freelance in both theatre and bridal. I opened 'Brides at Calders' in 1994 when I entered the world of retail, selling ready-made dresses and my own made-to-measure gowns. The business grew to the point where I had to move into larger premises, moving into our current studio in 2001.
