This shopping center north of the LSU campus is a smaller, rebuilt version of the old University Shopping Center, which once featured local establishments such as Inga's Subs & Salads, Chelsea's, Paradise Records, and The Co-op Bookstore, as well as an A&P supermarket. Part of the old shopping center has now been redeveloped by the Dallas firm First Worthing into student housing, and contributes to the transformation/decline in what was once a truly unique area into a standardized and cliché nightmare of stucco facades.
