Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Wichita (formerly known as Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS)) is the program facility responsible for defense and aerospace products relating to Boeing's Global Transport & Executive Systems and B-52 and 767 International Tanker product lines.

Though seemingly poised to become the key facility to outfit the new USAF KC-46 tanker aircraft, Boeing announced in January 2012 that all operations at the Kansas facility would end and the plant would be shut down by early 2013. Aircraft maintenance, modification and support work will be placed at the Boeing facility in San Antonio while engineering work will move to the Boeing facility in Oklahoma City.

  • Saying "Air Force One was Built" here is incorrect. The 747's that the Air Force uses for Presidential transport were built in Everett, WA at the Wide Body plant. Some of the modifications were done here, but the aircraft was not "built" here. A quick search of Boeing's website will reveal the full scope of the operations conducted at this facility. www.boeing.com
