Fuller Watson

Canada / British Columbia / Walnut Grove /
store / shop, furniture store / shop, department store, historical building

When Fuller-Watson opened in the 1920's, it was a full service department store, the first in town. The first building they owned was about 100 meters south of their current location, and smaller. In the '30s when the Lougheed Highway was blazed through, Maple Ridge's downtown, which was situated at Port Haney before, started slowly moving itself to the top of the hill to it's current location. Fuller Watson decided to do the same, building their current structure, which is at the corner of 224th and Lougheed. They added a second floor in the '50s, and in the '60s bought the top floor of the building next-door. In the 1970s, they stopped selling food and clothing, because of the more specialized shops that had opened up in town, like the Super Valu (Since closed down), and Zellers. Now, Fuller Watson is a furniture store, selling sofas, bedroom units, tables, household appliances, and similar goods. In 2010, they renovated their facade so it looks more modern.

Yes, their prices are a tiny bit higher than elsewhere however they do deliver for $25. and service the products they sell. Their salespeople, administration, and the delivery guys are of utmost quality and integrity. I will happily pay a little extra to deal with a local business that truly care about their clients.

The price we paid for our furiture was less than other stores for the exact same items. The flexibility, quality and service is hard to find these days. We had problems with an item shiped from the manufacture, but it was dealt with immediately and is being replaced. Services is excellent. Delivery men are excellent. Unfortunately, we did not buy our appliances from them and now regret it as they have helped us more with the problem than the servicemen from the store we bought them from. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this store to my friends.
