Grade II* listed house, one time the residence of Edwin Clark, a civil engineer who specialising in hydraulics. He is remembered principally as the designer of the Anderton Boat Lift (1875) near Northwich in Cheshire, which links the navigable stretch of the River Weaver with the Trent and Mersey Canal. Cromwell House is a splendid 18th century house on the High Street. IT is now a commercial premises.
