The area of single homes experienced intensive construction during the 70ties and 80ties of the 20th century. The pine trees of Veļķi have found their way into the painting “Fair of Tukums” (1936) by the artist Kārlis Neilis. The painting now forms a part of the collection at Tukums Museum.
