Known locally as "Big Chief", this monument features a large, wooden statue of a Native American carrying a canoe, beginning the long portage from the Cuyahoga River to the Tuscarawas River along the famous Portage Path. It marks the northern terminus of the Portage Path. The southern terminus is at the Tuscarawas River in Barberton.
