ghost town, historical layer / disappeared object
Hartsdale was apparently founded in the 1870s, a few years after Schererville, at the junction of two railroads (both of which still remain). This outline shows the outline of the town as it was in 1876. By the 1940s, the town had practically vanished. Today, what was once Hartsdale has been incorporated into Schererville.
