Kavali

Kavali is a small town on the east coast of India in the state of Andhra Pradesh. While not on the seashore itself, there is a beach 7 km from the town. The town also houses the Jawahar Bharati College for higher education.

Kavali in Telugu language means 'patrol'. Udayagiri Raja (king) stationed his army at this town, hence the name Kavali. Kavali is in Nellore district, it is the largest municipality after Nellore in this district. Madras (now known as Chennai) to Nellore railway line and also Grand Trunk road (GT road) running through the town helped it grow much beyond the Udayagiri.

Being the town in-between Nellore (Nellore District) and Ongole (Prakasam District) it shows local cultures and accents of both the districts. It is also very well known for its main stream of Whole Sale Cloth Merchants business in the Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

A local divine temple of the Kalugollamma with unique old-age back history and a blend of British constructed very strong buildings with a unique rock called Bontha Raayi found only in this region makes this town a unique town in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Potti Sreeramulu - The person who is the reason for the formation of state of ANDHRA PRADESH and a well known freedom fighter was from Kavali Mandal.
The revolution of Madyapana Nishedham (liquor ban) which led to ban of liquor in the entire state of Andhra Pradesh was a direct result of a small village revolution originally started near Kavali by a group of house-wife victims of liquor.
Jaladanki Sudhakar, an upcoming Telugu Movie Dialog and Lyric writer in Tollywood who wrote Dialogues for movies like AK-47, Ammaye Navvithe(2001), lyrics for movie Suryam and several street plays for A.P. State Government etc. hails from this town.

He was a resident of the Patha Vurru EthamukkalaVari Veedhi(Old Town) and a member of one of the respectable oldest families of this village and well known for his majestic voice of command to manage the issues in a smooth manner.
