The Francis Scott Key Bridge, more commonly referred to simply as the Key Bridge, carries U.S. Route 29 across the Potomac River between Rosslyn in Arlington, Virginia and the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Built in 1925, it is the District's oldest surviving bridge over the Potomac River. It was built to replace the Aqueduct Bridge, which was completed in 1843. It is an eight span, concrete deck arch bridge and was reconstructed in 1986. It also carries Route 29 over the George Washington Memorial Parkway, the Whitehurst Freeway, and the C&O Canal.
