The Minnetonka Center for the Arts is a nonprofit community based organization providing affordable instruction in the visual arts. It is funded by grants from the NEA, Minnesota State Arts Board (through an appropriation by the Minnesota Sate Legislature from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage fund) and private donors. It also has galleries. The architect was James "Jim" Dayton, a scion of the Dayton family who started his career in the offices of Frank Gehry in Los Angeles before returning to the Twin Cities, this was his first major commission.
