Worli was one of the original seven islands that constituted the city of Mumbai. Worli is a part of south Mumbai which extends from Haji Ali to Prabhadevi. Worli has been one of the busiest commercial areas in Mumbai since the late 70's. The first major development was the Shivsagar Estate located on Dr Annie Besant Road. The major companies having properties here are GSK Pharma, TATA, Novartis, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, Siemens and many more.
Apart from being a commercial district, Worli also is an upscale residential neighbourhood, especially along the coastline. The most coveted Worli Seaface as well as Samudra Mahal area house the most expensive residential apartment in central Mumbai.
Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Science Centre and Discovery Of India Building are situated here. Atria Mall, one of the most expensive malls in Town, also lies in this locality.
